Cultural Connotations has recently prepared a significance assessment for the Warrnambool Mechanics Institute book and document collection. Whilst there were many Institutes in Victoria's early history, very few collections survive. Its contents provide a link to understanding how the early colonists strove to develop themselves and their new country. The material is part of the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum collection.
